House Republicans were joined by 8 House Democrats in their latest move dehumanizing trans youth. The Anti-Transgender legislation, H.R. 2616, misnamed the “Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act” or “PROTECT Kids Act,” would require federally funded elementary and middle schools to violate children’ s privacy. This would require guardian connivance in recognizing a child’s perception of gender identity.
Many argue the bill would effectively force schools to expose transgender students to both their peers and families, which could easily become situations of public student bullying in the classroom. This legislation would make a teacher’s job more difficult by knowingly putting students at risk of being harmed by the guardian.
The legislation would prohibit public elementary and middle schools receiving federal funds from changing a student’s name, pronouns, or access to facilities such as bathrooms and locker rooms without written parental permission.
This bill is effectively making children fear for their lives and forcing them to suppress identities which leads to future mental illness.
