The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) does critical work by reporting on anti-LGBT+ actions taken by the Trump regime via the “Trump Accountability Tracker | GLAAD.” It also works to uplift gay and trans voices and provides legal support to those affected by discrimination. These actions by GLAAD should be supported by progressives everywhere to fight oppression and erasure of LGBT+ people by the Trump regime.
The Trump Accountability Tracker systematically follows Trump’s anti-LGBT executive orders and reports on hostile legislation and harmful rhetoric. In 2025, GLAAD published a recap of Trump’s Week 1 executive orders, pointing out attacks against LGBT+ people and marginalized groups, such as the removal of Diversity, Equality, Inclusion programs. GLAAD is one of the few outspoken organizations condemning the removal of transgender people from the historical Stonewall National Monument in New York City, as well as the removal of references to transgender people from the official Stonewall website. Transgender people played an important role in this event which was a major turning point in LGBT+ rights.
The tracker helps to keep the public educated about news, such as Project 2025’s unconstitutional agenda, that other media outlets may not be reporting on. The tracker also provides an accessible list to everyone from journalists to those simply wanting to remain informed about the Trump regime’s ever-growing threat towards at-risk communities. This information both challenges harmful rhetoric against marginalized groups and also allows those communities time to build defenses against removal of protections.
We should support GLAAD by sharing their website and tracker to our communities, especially to those who are vulnerable. GLAAD offers crucial legal support to those under attack. Now is the time to build coalitions with other progressive organizations to defend our rights. The attacks on LGBT+ people is an attack on all working people, so we must act in unity and ally ourselves with other groups interested in defending our civil liberties.
